Cabinet card Photograph shows a white woman in white lace Victorian gown sitting with a book,and surrounded by 4 young Sri Lankan girls in ornate saris. Leitch spent 11 years in Sri Lanka working with the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. She was the co-author of "Seven Years in Ceylon." Jaffna is the capital city of the northern province of present-day Sri Lanka, once known as Ceylon. Under colonial British rule, missionary schools were common and Christian education promoted loyalty the British crown. Slight wear to edges of board. Overall very good condition.Item #17949
