[South Africa Apartheid] [Radical Activism] Ligue Anti-Imperialiste (LAI) Boycott Apartheid. Carl Lambreghts: Rue de la Caserne 68, 1000 Bruxelles. "Soutenez la lutte du peuple noir." which roughly translates to "Support the struggle of Black people." Measures 16" x 24". Undated, likely 1960s-70s. Red, green, yellow, and greyscale poster with photo scans of South African protesters with their fists raised in the air, overlapping two young Black South African children with tears in their eyes. Though the history of LAI cannot be traced, the World Anti-Imperialist League founded in 1927 Brussels, laid the foundation for subsects of anti-colonial organizations to sprout and flourish. Through violent internal protests, boycotts, the imprisonment of Nelson Mandela which sparked international outrage, the legal segregation and utilization of Black South African labor was ended in the early 1990s. Minor 1cm tear to the upper left side, overall very good condition. This poster is one example of grassroots organizing that led to the end of apartheid.Item #20984
