Set in the midst of the Mexican Revolution, the novel follows several characters of different cultural backgrounds with the main character being based on real-life American journalist, Ambrose Bierce, who was once an American Civil War veteran who spends his last mysterious days in Mexico living among Pancho Villa's soldiers, particularly his encounter with General Tomas Arroyo, and shows the two cultures in their similarity and differences. The Old Gringo is a classic in Latin-American fiction and has had critical acclaim, eventually being turned into a feature length film starring Jane Fonda, Gregory Peck. The dust jacket has minor fading to the spine and is not price-clipped. Binding tight and pages clean and crisp. Overall very good condition.
