An advanced reading copy of Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez's non-fiction account of a series of kidnappings executed by the Medellin Cartel in the 1990s. News of a Kidnapping follows the kidnapping, imprisonment, and release of several prominent figures in Colombia including Maruja Pachón, journalist Diana Turbay and her news team, and Francisco Santos Calderón, editor of El Tiempo. The book was originally published in Colombia in 1996 and subsequently translated to English by Edith Grossman for the 1997 U.S. edition. Overall very good condition. An uncorrected proof predating the first published American edition by famed Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
