This is Marchant's fourth lesbian novel writing under the name Aldridge. Anyda Marchant was a female lawyer and one of the first women to pass the Bar in Washington D.C. She was a founding partner of Naiad Press and A&M Books and the author of primarily lesbian fiction. She was born in Brazil and at 5 moved with her family to DC. Marchant met Muriel Inez Crawford in 1947 and they became a couple in 1948, though they remained largely in the closet until the '90s. The couple was together for 57 years until Aldridge's death. This book is featured in Grier at the highest tier, meaning it contains significant lesbian characters and action, and is integral for any collection of lesbian literature.
