Original white dustjacket with black and red text and woodcut print by Antonio Frasconi showing a writer at a desk surrounded by moons and stars. This collection of thirty six poems was first published in Spanish in 1962. Neruda considered it a personal favorite and asked fellow poet Alastair Reid to translate the work into English. This translation was published in 1975, two years after Neruda's death. Poems appear in both Spanish and English with translated pages facing each other so the two versions can be viewed side by side. The collection includes one of Neruda's most notable poems, "The People". Book and dustjacket both in near fine condition.
