Subjects range from the lesbian image in art to the call to feminism and the lesbian lifestyle. Includes over 35 essays and over 80 black and white illustrations including photographs, art, drawings and other photos originally published in the magazine. The Ladder was the first nationally distributed lesbian publication in the United States and offered an incisive look at mid-century gay life.
