The Palestine Question, United Nations Pamphlet
Pamphlets
[Pro-Palestine] The Palestine Question: A Brief History. New York: United Nations, 1980. Stapled wraps, 25 pages, measuring 5.5" x 8.5". This pamphlet studies the roots of the Palestinian conflict and its present state circa 1980. Prepared for, and under the guidance of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. Selected quotes include: "Until recently the Security Council’s approach to the Palestine issue has been confined to the framework of its resolution 242 (1967) of nearly 13 years ago. However, the General Assembly, reflecting the will of the majority of the community of nations, has extended recognition of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people."... "The Palestinian people now number approximately 4 million a population larger than that of many Member States of the United Nations. About half-a-million of the Palestinians live in Israel. Another 1,200,000 live in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza. The remainder are in exile; many still in refugee camps, many as foreigners in other countries. The majority of those in exile still hope to return to their own country."... “The United Nations has recognized that a fundamental factor in averting this threat to world peace is to enable the Palestinian people to exercise its inalienable right of self-determination, national independence and sovereignty in Palestine." An important publication. In very good condition overall.Item #20572
