[Native American] [Western Americana] Archive of 6 Real Photo Postcards featuring Native Americans from the Garden of the Gods Trading Company. Colorado Springs, CO 1920s. Real photo postcards feature Chiefs and members of the Pueblo Indian Tribe. Ancestral Pueblo people in the western part of the Southwest were primarily dry or floodwater farmers, and developed a set of religious beliefs that emphasize the sacred importance of rain and concentrate an annual cycle of religious ritual on rain making. All real photo postcards are sepia toned and measure 3.5" x 5.5". The Native Americans in these real photo postcards are all in traditional southwest native attire including many in elaborate feather headdresses against desert backdrops. Several photos are of Pueblo Indian Chief "Jose Tafoya" including one of him in archery prowess, along with portraits of Pueblo Indian Chief "Seda-Pee" and Pueblo Indian "Co-It-Zah". All images showcase traditional attire and proud faces of the Native American subjects. All real photo postcards are in very good condition.
