Up until that time, lesbian pulp fiction books usually showed suggestive art with obscure titles that hinted at what the subject matter was inside. This book also marked the first ending in a work of lesbian fiction where none of the characters commit suicide, go insane, or are abandoned or killed. Bannon wrote a total of six lesbian pulp fiction novels later known known as The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, and was one of few women at the time writing lesbian pulp, which was a genre dominated by men writing under pen names. In an interview in 2003, she admitted this book was her favorite of the series. The book's enduring popularity and impact on lesbian identity has earned her the title "Queen of Lesbian Pulp Fiction". Book is listed in Grier as an A***, meaning "a major lesbian character" and "one of few titles that stand out above all the rest and must properly belong in any collection of Lesbian literature." Cover features a striking portrait of a woman with the Gold Medal Giant logo. In very good condition.Item #19882
