King and Denton photographed after King's announcement that Cleveland will be one of the 4 target cities for civil rights action by the SCLC that summer. Hough is a neighborhood in Cleveland that underwent intense racial riots in July 1966. King and Denton both wear a slight smile. This United Press International photo has a descriptive caption attached. It has a margin and inscriptions on verso that is typical of photos that were used in newspapers. These original press photo taken by photojournalist within tight timeframe for the benefit of particular editorial board and with the aim of usage by the press to illustrate an article often affected public opinion in the nation.
