The Rubaiyat is a collection of quatrains, or poems of four lines, on life, love and destiny. First translated from Persian to English in 1859 by Edward Fitzgerald, This 1894 edition illustrated and designed by Elihu Vedder set the standard for artist-designed books in America and England. The Smithsonian's created a few years ago a traveling exhibition Elihu Vedder's Drawings for the Rubaiyat. One blank pages has a tiny tear otherwise very clean and in very good condition. A very attractive book.
