The first gay newspaper in Michigan, the Gay Liberator was published on a monthly/bimonthly basis from 1970-1976 and features opinion essays, poetry, articles of reportage, letters to the editor, political commentary, and gay interest historical pieces. This issue features a special section titled "Prison and Homosexuality" which dives into the treatment of Gay Prisoners and work being done by the Prisoners' Labor Union to achieve equality. Additional sections discuss transgender identity "Transvestism", gay chefs "Gay Chef Grilled", gay Community Resources throughout Michigan,"Who What When Where" and additional artwork and advertisements for gay clubs and other gay culture including "Roger's Roost" and "Gay Male Theater" at the Wood-Six Twin Theatre.
