Shot for just $175,000 it grossed $8 million and earned praise from audiences and critics and paved the way for future independent filmmakers taking their films to festivals. The book includes how Lee achieved his success, how he financed the film, the journal and production notes for the film, and a full-length interview by Nelson George.
