Audrey Hepburn Press Photo Archive, 1959 - 1992

Photograph

[Audrey Hepburn] Archive of 4 black and white silver gelatin press photographs and one in full color, all between the years of 1959 and 1992. Sizes range from 9" x 5" to 8" x 10." In these photographs we see Audrey in various stages throughout her life, beginning with an injury on the set of The Unforgiven, where she is pictured on a stretcher beside her then-husband Mel Ferrer. In another photograph, a 39-year-old Hepburn smiles after filing an intention to wed Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti. In 1989, she poses with Barbara Walters after giving an interview about her new role as a Special Ambassador for UNICEF. In 1992, Hepburn holds in her lap an 8-year-old performer in the Peace Child/Greater Chicago chorus. Though she hailed from a Dutch aristocratic family, Hepburn experienced hunger, illness, and hardship growing up in the German-occupied Netherlands. She was sympathetic to issues of food scarcity and injustice, and left behind a legacy of both film excellence and humanitarian work. Her turn towards philanthropic efforts are reflected in this archive. Very good condition.
