1974 Gay Pride Week Edition of Bay Area Reporter, San Francisco LGBT Newspaper
Periodical
[LGBTQ] Bay Area Reporter: Gay Pride Week. Vol. 4 No. 12. San Francisco, 12 June 1974. The Bay Area Reporter was founded in 1971 as a free weekly newspaper serving the LGBT community in the San Francisco Bay Area. 30 pages. 11" x 8." This issue boasts "Readership 50,000 Nationwide" and carries the publication's official slogan: The Cataylst for all Factions of the Gay Community. Inside this special Pride Week issue is an article about the drag scene in Las Vegas, a movie review of Alejandro Jodorowsky's "The Holy Mountain," and many blurbs about current events and happenings in the area. The back pages of this periodical include a classified section, which was used by the community to arrange meetups and romantic connections. Many of them are tongue-in-cheek and rather humorous. Interesting artifact of LGBT subculture in 70s San Francisco. Very good condition.Item #18826
