Pamphlets

Labor's Stake in the Fight to Free Angela Davis. Chicago: National Coordinating Committee for Trade Union Action and Democracy, 1971. Two page, four-panel pamphlet measuring 8.5 x 11" . First edition brochure addressing efforts to free Angela Davis. This pamphlet was produced in 1971 while Angela Davis was incarcerated for the alleged involvement in the Marin County Civic Center attacks in which during the kidnapping of Superior Court judge Harold Haley four people were killed (including judge Haley). Includes a photo of Davis on front page with caption "Free Angela Davis."
The pamphlet reads: "Why is Her Life in Jeopardy? Accused: ...of a crime she was nowhere near....of kidnapping when she never laid a hand on anyone....of murder when she never pulled a trigger. Those killed at San Rafael, including the judge, were fired upon by prison guards from outside the van. Extradited: ...to California unconstitutionally. Angela Davis's lawyers were prevented from seeing the testimony alleged against her in the indictment. Railroaded: ...Being tried in an atmosphere of terror. The State of California has asked Ruchell Ma Gee to perjure himself by implicating Miss Davis in the shooting. He refuses." This pamphlet details Davis' unjust imprisonment and asksfor donations for her legal defense. Davis was acquitted of all charges in 1972. In very good condition.
