Black Panther Party handout given during the Alameda Peace and Freedom Party meeting in Berkeley, California, on January 31, 1968. This pamphlet states the "Position of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense on the Seventh Congressional District election and the candidacy of John George in the Democratic Party." The Panthers were agitating for the Peace and Freedom Party, a recently formed left-wing third party, to endorse the candidacy of their secretary Huey P. Newton, who had been jailed on charges of murdering a police officer, over that of John George, a progressive Black Democrat. In very good condition.Item #17574
