[Women Suffrage] [Feminism and Women's Rights] Charlotte Perkins Gilman. 1 page promotional flyer for her lecture tour, which drew on the social and economic concerns represented in her books "The Yellow Wallpaper" and "Women and Economics." Gilman was a famous and successful novelist, poet, and lecturer on social progress, particularly concerning women. Topics promoted in the flyer include "Americans and Non-Americans," "Our Brains and What Ails Them," "His Religion and Hers," and "The Home- Past, Present, and Future". The flyer cites her anointment as one of the "twelve greatest living American Women" by fellow women's rights activist Carrie Chapman Catt. "Her philosophy is one of hope and courage, based on natural law, and clear in practical application," the flyer promises, before adding her address. The flyer was likely created sometime around 1904 to 1906 although (One source mentions a 1904 letter from Gilman to Aletta Jacobs with a lecturer flyer attached, dated "ca. 1902".) Measures 8.5x11" and is in very good condition, featuring a portrait of Gilman at top left. Mentioned in "Famous American Women" p. 156-57. An important piece of ephemera marking Gilman's social contributions.
