Historic newspaper. New York Daily Tribune, June 8, 1861 issue, New York, NY. Page seven of this complete historic paper has an article entitled: "Horrible Indian Massacre at Stein's Peak, Arizona." In part: "...Nine men are missing, and, it is feared, have all been massacred, although there exists a hope that some of them may be retained as prisoners. The savages inflicted upon some of their victims a horrible torture, and exhibited a refinement of cruelty unparalleled in the catalogue of Indian barbarities..." Some wear and minor tears at folds.
