Rap Pages Magazine Archive: Eminem, Redman, 8Ball and MJG, Missy Elliott, and the Commercial Apex of Hip Hop, May–October 1999. Six issues from the 1999 run of Rap Pages, a visually daring and culturally incisive hip hop periodical known for its deep engagement with street culture, regional rap scenes, and bold editorial choices. Founded in 1991 and edited during this era by Sheena Lester, Rap Pages offered a critical, West Coast-grounded lens on hip hop as it entered an era of mass-market visibility and stylistic evolution at the close of the millennium. This archive includes issues from May through October 1999, spotlighting a range of artists whose careers defined late '90s rap. Eminem’s breakout is featured prominently on the June 1999 cover, where he appears in stark portrait as “Reservoir Dawg,” promoting the Slim Shady persona that disrupted the genre’s status quo. July’s issue features Southern legends 8Ball and MJG, the GZA, and coverage on Snoop and Dre's reunion after the No Limit era, while Missy Elliott and Charli Baltimore are profiled in the August issue. Other names profiled in this half-year run include Nas, Juvenile, Slick Rick, Black Moon, and DMX, offering a mosaic of coastal sounds and generational influences. The September and October issues continue to explore regionalism and lyrical complexity amid the genre’s mainstream dominance. Very good condition overall, though the Eminem issue shows some abrasion to the lower text on the cover. All issues retain original gloss, full pagination, and intact spines.
