Three black and white silver gelatin photo press release stills of the TV film about Frederick Douglass, starring William Marshall. Each measure 8” x 10” and have original publisher’s captions on the margins. Trained as a Shakespearean actor and Operatic singer, Marshall had a four decade long career in Hollywood and entertainment, from the 1972 blaxploitation film series, Blacula, to Star Trek. These dynamic photographs show Marshall in a 19th century three piece suit, with a grey wig and prosthetic makeup to age his face. The film was released for television by KCET/Los Angeles, a PBS affiliated channel that mainly highlighted educational media. Frederick Douglass, Slave and Statesmen, was scheduled to premiere on February 16th, 1983 from 9:00-10:00 pm PST. The film was produced and released for Black History month in association with William Marshall. One of the photographs have editor’s markings on the margins. Overall in very good condition. A dynamic portrayal of Douglass’ life in this small scale educational film.Item #20823
