[African American Film] Unique cult classic with strong Black hero. The Last Dragon, A Tri-Star Picture, 1985. Archive of 3 original vintage silver gelatin photos used as lobby cards in movie theaters. All measure 8" x 10" and are in glossy black and white. The Last Dragon is considered a cult classic martial arts comedy starring Taimak and Vanity and directed by black filmmaker Michael Schultz. In 1991, Schultz was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame for his work on the film. The plot follows a young man in New York City who searches for a Master to obtain the final level of martial arts mastery known as the Glow. Notable real-life film locations include the Harlem Karate Institute of Grandmaster Ernest Hyman, Japanese Goju-Ryu, in Harlem, New York City where the Dojo and workout scenes were filmed. The diverse cast reflected the multicultural nature of New York City. The soundtrack worked to the same effect, combining R&B, hip-hop and pop. Photos feature Taimak during his training, and right before his major battle, along with another shot of him with his younger brother in the film. Photos feature Tri-Star logo and the title, along with other production information in the lower white margins. Archive is in very good condition.
