This book was one of the first books on Black Theater History. A pioneering and groundbreaking work the first history of Black theatre in America, covering Ira Aldridge's first European performances in which Black people were accepted more in British theatre, and covering all the major figures and plays through Paul Robeson and Marian Douglas. The 20th century, especially in Europe, allowed Black people to make a rich contribution to the entertainment sphere in which this book covers. A clean book with no names or marks, DJ is illustrated and price-clipped, somewhat worn with tiny loss at some edge corners. Overall very good condition.Item #20246
