First Edition Hardcover with original half legal calf over marbled boards. 403 pages. Measures 6" x 9.5". Includes section on manufacturing and mining companies, insurance, banks, claims, towns, schools and cities and how the Acts passed effect each. Also includes Virginia Bill of Rights at the back of the text along with an extensive index dealing mainly with tax. There is also an Act to suppress "Gambling by Negroes and White Persons together" which may have been an early manifestation of Separate but Equal. During the great age of expansion, there is also abundant information on navigation companies, steamship companies, railroads and marine railways. Front board is cracked at gutter but still attached. Foxing on pages but cover is clean. All pages attached and textblock is tight. In very good condition.Item #19684
