It was Truffaut's first color film and his only English-language film. The movie depicts a future society where books are outlawed and firemen like Guy Montag (Oskar Werner) are tasked with burning them. Montag begins to question his role after encountering Clarisse (Julie Christie), a young woman who loves books, and his own wife, Linda (also played by Christie), who is emotionally detached and addicted to television. The film explores themes of censorship, conformity, and the power of knowledge. Pressbooks were used by production companies to promote film distribution.
