[Film] Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard starring William Holden and Gloria Swanson Archive. This archive consist of 3 original vintage silver gelatin photographs used as lobby cards in movie theaters. Paramount, 1950. All about 8" x 10" and in glossy black and white. Sunset Boulevard is a noir-film that tackles the Hollywood industry of writers, actors and actresses as the industry changes and as time moves on. The film was praised by many critics when first released and it was nominated for 11 Academy Awards including all four acting categories. It is considered one of the best films about Hollywood and the silent film era, with critic Roger Ebert stating: "Sunset Boulevard remains the best drama ever made about the movies because it sees through the illusions," adding Gloria Swanson's role as Norma Desmond is "one of the all time greatest performances." The movie's line "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up" was voted the #7 most popular movie quote by the American Film Institute. All photos feature Swanson and Holden. One has United Press International stamp on verso and one has production credits including the films stars, director and title in the lower white margin. All in very good condition.
