Fritz Lang's M. Original Vintage Silver Gelatin Photograph. Staten Filmcensur. Measures 8" x 10". Black and white glossy. M is a 1931 German suspense thriller directed by Fritz Lang and a cry for despair representing the dying moments of a free Germany before the Nazi takeover. Lang’s film concerns itself with the depravity of society, starring Peter Lorre it was an early example of a procedural drama,and was Lang's first with sound that also developed several techniques now popular in cinema. This film was banned shortly after it premiered in Germany for its overtly anti-nazi stance and Fritz Lang and Peter Lorre, both Jews, soon fled the country. A credit is printed on the lower right corner stating "Staten Filmcensur" or "State Film Censure" in English. The photo is a still featuring Peter Lorre during the film's climax, when he looks at himself in the mirror and is terrified of his own reflection. Vintage original silver gelatin photograph is in very good condition.Item #19637
