[LGBTQ pulp] Weirauch, Anna Elisabet. Of Love Forbidden. Greenwich, Conn: Crest Book, 1964. Third edition mass-market paperback softcover. 192 pages. Measures 4.25" x 7". Originally published under the title The Scorpion. Cover is white with bright red text, featuring a photograph of a woman in the lower corner. Tagline reads: "Haunting story of a girl caught in the web of an unnatural love." Weirauch began her career as an actress in Max Reinhardt's acting company where she also started her writing career, drafting plays and dramas. She was openly lesbian and was in a lifelong relationship with a Dutch woman named Helena Geisenhainer. She was influential for writing about lesbian culture in the 1900s, and many of her works were translated for an English audience in the 1970s. Originally published in 1932, this novel coined the term "scorpion" or "skorpion" in German, to refer to a more masculine-presenting and intelligent lesbian who conveys complex identities through appearances. Cover is bright and clean and textblock is tight. In very good condition.
