Front bears black-and-white photograph of a mother and her newborn. The Birth Control Handbook was published by McGill University as a response to an increase of backstreeet abortions and lack of contraceptive access. Millions of copies were distributed for free at university campus all over Canada and the United States. The booklet contains unbiased, straightforward information about the reproductive system, varieties of contraception, abortions, and sexually transmitted infections. It is profusely illustrated with photographs, medical diagrams, anatomical drawings, and more. Once controversial, this handbook is now considered an important piece of literature in the women's liberation movement. Consistent toning throughout, some foxing present on front wrapper. Very good condition.
