The 1967 and the 1979 Automobile Quarterly periodical focuses on Bugatti, the high end French-German sports car marque. The central piece of the 1967 is a retrospective called “My Bugatti Years” by acclaimed Grand Prix driver Rene Dreyfus. Subsequently, neo-futurist Syd Mead writes and illustrates a Space Age-inflected feature on the synthesis of man and machine, expressed through the automobile. The 1979 edition has an article on Ettore Bugatti's personal Bugatti - a self-designed racing car that he personally raced at Le Mans. Includes a foldout Bugatti poster on page 65 from its Grand Prix golden era of the 1920s-30s. Also included is an illustrated catalog insert. Bright and stylish color as well as black and white photography throughout the book. Original boards in Bugatti’s characteristic blue with a gilded title. Centerpiece is a caricature of founder Ettoro Bugatti as a horse with the caption: “Le Pur-Sang Bugatti”, or The Thoroughbred Bugatti. In both Volumes, pages are clean and binding is tight . hard cover, oblong books, in fine condition with no signatures or marks of any kind. Both are in overall in very good to fine condition.
