Periodical

[Tennis Champion] Helen Willis. Time: the Weekly News-Magazine. July 26, 1926. Vol. VIII, No. 4. Time Publishing Company. Helen Wills is known as one of the greatest woman tennis players of all time. She won 31 Grand Slam titles during her career, 2 Olympic gold medals, and was the Wimbledon champion a record-setting 8 times (record unbroken until 1990). In 1933, forty years before the “Battle of the Sexes” match in which Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs in an exhibition game, Helen Wills defeated Phil Neer, then the #8 nationally ranked male tennis player in the US. This issue of Time featuring Wills across the cover was the same year as the “Match of the Century” wherein Wills (then ranked #2 in the world) faced Suzanne Lengdon, the #1 ranked French star. Very good condition.
