Wordsworth, Dame Elizabeth (1840-1932). “William Wordsworth” First Edition, Inscribed Presentation copy “from the author.” Percival, London, 1891. Prolific Author and Great-niece of the poet William Wordsworth. Founder in 1878 of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford as a college for female undergraduates. In 1886 she also founded St. Hugh's College as a college for poor female undergraduates.

Dame Wordsworth was the most important leader of women's education in the nineteenth century and a legend in her own time. She was a prolific author, writing poetry, plays, biographies and religious articles. Hardback First Edition. Very good condition in original dark blue cloth. Gilt lettering slightly faded, light soiling and small tears to spine panel. A very scarce book.
