[African American Film] Dorothy Dandridge's The Harlem Globetrotters 1951 Archive of 12 Original Lobby Cards. Columbia Pictures, 1951. Eleven silver gelatin black and white lobby cards measure 10" x 8", and one colorful lobby card measures 11" x 14". The Harlem Globetrotters is a 1951 sports drama centering upon the life of Billy Townsend. After quitting college to join the world-famous Globetrotters, Townsend is faced with countless issues. He secretly weds Ann Carpenter (Dorothy Dandridge) and upon return to the team, injures himself and gets fired. After signing a big money contract, Dandridge convinces him to ask for his position back on the Globetrotters. One lobby card captures Billy Brown IV and Inman Jackson conversing, and there are several lobby cards capturing coach Thomas Gomez besides the Globetrotters. There is one lobby card that captures Dandridge and Brown in the back of a car in wedding attire. Bill Walker gifts a basketball to Billy Brown alongside Thomas Gomez in another lobby card, and another captures Dandridge alongside Gomez and Brown. 10 lobby cards have pinholes as they were globally advertised in theaters. All lobby cards are bright and in very good condition.
