Black and white silver gelatin photographs primarily measuring 3.25" x 4.5", with some dated May 1959, and five color photos dated January 1960. Also includes Six loose but larger photos, four of them captioned press photos detailing the military exercise codenamed Coulee Crest that took this unit took part in from Larson Air Force Base. Album covers with graphics of the Tactical Air Command and our soldier's unit, the MATS 62nd TCW, as well as an engraving of a soaring jet plane on dark blue background . Many photos of military planes on airstrips, mostly 1940s-50s bombers, troop transport planes such as the Douglas C-124 Globemaster II, and some fighters, including the first supersonic jet fighter-bomber, the F-100c Super Sabre. The 62nd was active during Cold War conflicts such as the 1st Indochina War and in Korea, where they airlifted troops, blood plasma, aircraft parts, ammunition, medical supplies, and much more in support of the war. The soldier was also a automobile enthusiast, with many photos devoted to his own cars as well as a hot rod car show. The soldier seems to be originally from Western Ohio, around Celina, with a few shots from across the Indiana state border in Marion and at the municipal airport in Kokomo. The latter portion of the album is mostly devoted to a road trip throughout the Southwest, including some time spent in what appears to be the riverfront in Austin, Texas, and Luke Air Force Base and the surrounding area in Arizona. In very good condition overall.
