Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame: Oscar Micheaux Awards Ceremony Program. 32 pages. Oakland, 20 February 1977. Original white wrappers with gilt lettering, 8.5" x 11." Founded in 1974, the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame worked to support African American artists both before and behind the camera. Once a year, the organization held a ceremony to commemorate the many contributions of Black cinema. These awards were named for Oscar Micheaux, director of the first Black feature-length film and "most successful African American filmmaker of the first half of the twentieth century." This booklet opens with a retrospective of Micheaux and includes photographs and biographies of the new inductees. Notable names include actors James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson. Also included is the Paul Robeson Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Theater Arts. This is a true time capsule. Very good condition.Item #18868
