El Jalamate Newsletters archive of 4 issues Including Vol 2 No 5; Vol 3 No 2, 3, and 4. Covering Aug. 1972 and Jan, February March of 1973. La Raza Information Center. Bilingual newsletter concerned with Chicano issues and mutual aid. Three measure 11" x 8.5," the third is 14" x 8.5." Each newsletter contains twelve mimeograph pages, with illustrated wrappers. Published during the Chicano Movement, this newsletter addresses social issues, as well as employment & education opportunities, free services, and other general information regarding the Latino community in the Bay Area. Vol 3 No 2 has an illustration of the scales of justice, with the heavier side reading "How many wealthy people are in prison," and "Over 30% of our prisons are filled with Raza." Back wrappers bear label for Chicano organization El Tecolote and refers readers to the La Raza Information Center, which was located in the Mission District and was historically the home to the Mexican community.
