Archive of 5 items: Offset printed copy of King's letter with facsimile signature dated December 1964, 11 x 8 1/2 inches (mailing folds); "Some Important Fiscal Facts about SCLC," also included "From Page One, New York times," both 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches King's letter argues that the Black vote was essential in President Johnson's victory over Barry Goldwater in the recent election: "Many years of dedicated labor and bitter sacrifices in long registration campaigns were the foundations for this achievement. The murder of registration workers and widespread bombings of homes, churches and synagogues were employed to freeze us in terror--but they failed." A profound call-to-action, King Jr. also writes: "We must increase ["Negro voter"] numbers by registering several additional Negroes in the South. This must be accomplished in the most difficult areas where resistance frequently roars from a gun barrel or explodes in the flashing of dynamite charges". Comes with original donation envelope, and the original printed envelope sent to a Berkeley, CA supporter "From the study of Martin Luther King, Jr." Atlanta, GA, December 1964.
