African American, Education

Archive

Archive of various promotional materials pertaining to the United Negro College Fund. Includes 6 unused bumper stickers, each 12 1/2" x 4". Also includes 10 3/8" x 13 1/4" tabletop placard with easel backing that states, "Give to the United Negro College Fund...Share Your Opportunities." The United Negro College Fund was founded in 1944 by Frederick Patterson with the belief that education is crucial to Black mobility. The original aim of the UNCF was to fight impoverishment among Black students by unifying various HBCUs to appeal for more funds. What began as an alliance between twenty-seven small private Black schools has since grown into a philanthropic powerhouse. Today, the UNCF provides over $100 million in financial assistance every year to over 65,000 scholars. This archive is in very good condition, with some minor scuffing on the stickers. Very rare; no other copies located at the time of this writing as per OCLC Worldcat.
