F.O.C Darley engraving "The March to Valley Forge." 1877. Measures 9.5 x 7 inches. Illustration shows continental soldiers marching,against the wind, their feet buried in snow. One man helps another as he falls. Two officers on horseback ride beside the troops with a small dog, stooping too, at their feet. Felix Octavius Carr Darley was an illustrator made famous for his work with major authors like Charles Dickens and Edgar Allen Poe. His work is a present day reminder of a time when history was being carefully crafted according to a fixed perspective. Dampstain to border does not affect image. 2 small tears to border do not affect image. Text beneath image reads "The March to Valley Forge." Overall in good condition.Item #18209
