Front cover illustration shows large gray robot carrying smaller body of a human in astronaut gear while another robot watches from behind them, feet planted on a foreign planet set against the dark sky of outer space. I, Robot is a "fixup novel" of shorter science fiction works written by Asimov and published in Super Science Stories magazine and Astounding Science Fiction magazine from 1940-50 before being compiled into a stand-alone publication by Gnome Press in 1950 for a first edition of 5,000 copies. Book includes the short story in which Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics first appear, a concept that would have major impact on science fiction as well as the ethics surrounding Artificial Intelligence.
