Homerton College is a constituent of Cambridge College dating back to 1695. The school began admitting female students in the 1850s making the college a haven for women's education during a time of scarce opportunity and furthering the college's progressivism. During the late 19th century the school became known for producing some of the nation's foremost abolitionists. "All the students passed the usual tests very satisfactorily," begins the 1901 report. "Everything in this College shows marks of progress, and bears testimony to the vigour of its administration." Reports on the extracurricular life on campus includes summaries of club activity including "the cycling club visited many of the villages near Cambridge, and held its annual picnic at Clayhithe...the new bicycle shed has been found a great convenience by all who have brought their machines up with them" from the 1905 report. Read together the reports give a clear sense of the work that went into the early life of this school as well as the spirit of campus life. Front covers stamped by "Board of Education Library" with sticker from the same on the back covers of 3. Varied minor handwritten notes on covers do not obscure text.
