Dr King is pictured speaking to a large crowd of civil rights demonstrators at the end of the historic march from Selma to Montgomery. 6.5" x 4.5" inches. Black and white. This march was part of a series of civil rights protests that took place in Alabama in 1965 as part of an effort to register Black voters in the South. Protesters walked the 54-mile route from Selma to the state capital of Montgomery facing deadly violence from local authorities and white vigilante groups along the way. On verso is a very light ink stamp we can not read, and a handwritten note "Secola - 4 Colonne" [italian for "Century- 4 Columns"]. Press photos are taken by photojournalists often within tight timeframes for the benefit of particular editorial boards to illustrate articles and affect public opinion. Corners slightly bent.
