In Rare Pamphlet, Irish Unitarians Urge American Brethren: "Christianity Holds No Fellowship with Slave Holding"
Pamphlet
(SLAVERY & ABOLITION.) Address of the Irish Unitarian Christian Society to their Brethren in America. Boston, 1846. Duodecimo, 7 pages, approximately 5" x 7.5". Many Unitarians were abolitionists. The Irish Unitarians had sent a message to their American brethren in 1844, urging them to oppose slavery, and received no response. Here the Irish tried again, in a message printed in Boston for general distribution, urging that "Christianity holds no fellowship with slave-holding." Rare. At the time that this description is being written, just two copies are recorded in American institutions. OCLC search results are at best an estimate and can vary over time. Unbound, full vertical fold, long closed tear to final leaf. Overall in good condition.Item #17765
