Joseph Parrish - The Condition of Colored Peoples - 1838-Original Pamphlet . 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 20 pages;In complete form this pamphlet should have 40 pages; this copy has only the first 20 which is the report of Joseph Parrish (1729-1807) who was the President of the Society is best known for his anti-slavery book 'Remarks on the Slavery of the Black People.' Published in 1806, This 1838 Abolitionist pamphlet was originally stitched but the thread is long gone and it has now been tipped together by an old library cover with a portion of the title written in a calligraphic script. The library cover could probably be easily removed. Even though incomplete, this is still an interesting, and uncommon, report on the conditions of free African-Americans in and around Philadelphia in the 1830's. Incomplete.
