[Women’s Education] [Women’s History]. This handwritten letter from George B. Emerson, educator and women’s rights advocate, is dated from 1865 and speaks of a bright female student. Signed. Octavo. 3 pages. Comes with CDV albumen print of Emerson, circa 1870s. Emerson praises the student, Chasy, as follows: “She is one good bright creature who would be most likely to find the right path by herself… and take it of her own full choice, and yet of whom we teachers are proud as though we had had a hand in guiding that beautiful spontaneous choice.” Emerson was a pioneer who dedicated his efforts as an educator to his female students. Mounting remnants on one page as well as tape repair - not affecting text or signature. Overall in very good condition.
