Walker, Marjorie O. scrapbook, 1939 to 1942, documents women’s teacher training, coeducational campus life, and institutional transition at Oswego State Normal School as it became Oswego State Teachers College. Original paper wraps with large color fall foliage image on front cover, 76 pages, 15 x 11 inches. Contents include a 1940 admission letter noting a waiting list for applicants, course schedule, report card, 1939 student handbook, 1940–1941 student directory, boarding regulations for landladies and roommates, programs for plays and musical performances, full issues of The Oswegonian, postcards of Oswego and nearby sites, Alpha Delta Sorority material, and printed fight songs. Academic records document coursework in Child Development, History of Civilization, Written Composition, General Math, Essentials of Music, Essentials of Art, and Recreational Activities. Newspaper material includes coverage of a Korean national student at Syracuse University speaking at Oswego about the Japanese occupation of Korea.

The final pages are especially significant for documenting the January 1941 campus fire that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, including student newspaper coverage describing students “carrying, coupling and manning hoses” alongside firemen and later notices emphasizing “Business As Usual” through revised examination schedules and relocated classes. This crisis documentation, combined with admissions, housing, academic, and social material, makes the scrapbook a strong record of how a teachers college functioned in practice during wartime-era institutional change. Ephemera and scrapbook pages intact as described, with general handling consistent with use, very good.
