Octavo, measures approximately 7.75 x 5.5-inches. 464 pages Fully reblocked and rebound with original book cloth remnants reapplied atop new cloth. Added placeholding ribbon, new hinges, boards and endpapers. Foxing; Binding is very tight and square. Text is very bright and crisp. Ex-slave Frederick Douglass's second autobiography, written after ten years of reflection following his legal emancipation in 1846 and his break with mentor William Lloyd Garrison catapulted Douglass into the international spotlight as the foremost spokesman for American blacks, both freed and enslaved.
