Over a dozen women sit around a long table counting ballots, as others crowd nearby to oversee the process. A poster in the background reads "Elections." In the years leading up World War II, women in France were gaining increased momentum in the struggle for voting rights. Women's suffrage was proposed six times during the inter-war period, a testament to women's dedication towards the movement. These original press photo taken by photojournalist within tight timeframe for the benefit of particular editorial board and with the aim of usage by the press to illustrate an article often affected public opinion in the nation.
