What President Wilson Says. New York: New York State Woman Suffrage Party, 1917. Pamphlet never folded. 7 x 9.5 in. Pro-Woman suffrage pamphlet with photo portrait of President Wilson on the front, below the title “What President WIlson Says”. The interior portion has the headline “President Wilson Wants Woman Suffrage,” and below 4 quotes and extracts from President Woodrow Wilson’s speeches and writings to political bodies and suffrage groups. He writes to suffragist leader Carrie Chapman Catt. "As you know, I have a very real interest in the extension of the Suffrage to the women and I feel that every step in this direction should be applauded." No made an address to Suffragists at their 1916 National Convention: "It is because the women have seen visions of duty, and that is something which we not only cannot resist, but if we be true Americans, we do not wish to resist." Pamphlet was made to promote women’s voting rights, as New Yorkers voted on statewide women’s suffrage on November 6, 1917. The last page asks that you “Stand by Our President and make our own glorious country a Democracy…[and] Show that you are a true American.” No folds or creases. Excellent condition. This campaign gave women in New York state the right to vote, and national suffrage came one year later.Item #16303
